Vote for Terry Wilkings

It is with great pleasure that I am writing this letter of support for Terry Wilkings who is running for the position of Vice-President of Academics and Advocacy of the Concordia Student Union executive team. I first met Terry when he arrived at my workplace at Innovation Jeunes in the fall of 2013. Innovation Jeunes is a community center situated near Concordia University’s downtown campus. It is a space that houses an alternative school for youth between the ages of 17 to 25 years old, academic support, cooking workshops, and artistic expression projects. Its mission is to offer a community space for youth frequenting the downtown area of Montreal, and values education as a central tool in fostering a positive self-image and autonomy.

Terry Wilkings, who is currently completing a double major in Community, Public Affairs & Policy Studies and in Economics, currently sits on the Arts & Science Faculty Council, is a student advocate at the Concordia Student Union, and has found the time and energy to implicate himself as a mathematics tutor at the high school level at Innovation Jeunes. Since 2013, Terry has garnered the attention of various youth who he has tutored, and they have provided positive feedback regarding his teaching abilities and in his capacity to communicate effectively. These skills would contribute as assets for Terry as he would be the bridge between university administration and undergraduate students in the role of VP Academic & Advocacy.

As a dedicated activist, Terry Wilkings is concerned about the future of his peers and the future of the generations that follows his. His innovative and free-spirited personality complements his out-spoken character, and he is not afraid to articulate his values.
