Support student journalism
For 45 years, The Link has been an independent, student-run, not-for-profit, multi-media publication.
We aim to publish stories with a focus on alternative and advocacy journalism and those often overlooked and not covered by corporate and legacy media. Contributors, staff writers, and masthead cover stories about student life and local, national, and international issues of interest to the Concordia and Montreal communities.
The Link is an award-winning publication that has been a learning space for writers, photographers, multi-media creators, designers and artists to hone their skills and gain experience. It is also a place to develop ethical and responsible practices in media and journalism. We have been instrumental in helping young journalists and artists launch their careers. Hundreds of student reporters who’ve called The Link home, now work in virtually every major news outlet in the country. Our commitment to independent journalism is unwavering, and we believe it is crucial for a healthy and informed society.
In recent years alone, our coverage of labour disputes, the university’s financial matters, sexual assault on campus, student protests, international students’ rights and other matters of extreme importance have resulted in direct policy changes from Concordia. This is thanks to our dedicated team of reporters—masthead and contributors alike.
Fairly compensating our masthead and contributors for their work has become integral to The Link and its mandate. Donations and external funding are some ways we keep fair compensation a reality. Running on donations and fee-levies also ensures our only loyalty remains to you, the reader.
In the face of austerity and the rising cost of living, it is becoming increasingly difficult to financially sustain the publication. Your support is crucial in ensuring that we can continue our important work and make a difference in our community.
Your contribution, of any amount, is highly valued, and even if you cannot donate, you can still support us by continuing to consume our content.
