Kevin Figsby Leaves Concordia
Longtime Men’s Hockey Team Head Coach Departs Program After 15 Seasons

The Concordia Stingers announced that Kevin Figsby will not be returning as the head coach of their men’s hockey team for the upcoming 2015-16 season today. Figsby had held his position for the last 15 seasons.
Figsby was offered a position as a development coach for the Stingers program, according to a press release sent out by the athletics administration. However, the now ex-Stingers bench boss opted to “pursue a new path”.
According to the Montreal Gazette, Figsby’s new path will lead him to Hockey Canada where he will be their new Director of Hockey Program Delivery.
Stingers men’s hockey team captain, Olivier Hinse, expressed his gratitude to the departing head coach.
“[Kevin Figsby] had a positive influence on my life and we wish him the best of luck in [his] career.” said Hinse. “He made sure my career at Concordia was the best it could be and he [did] it with every guy.”
The Stingers will soon name an interim head coach to replace Figsby as the search for a new permanent head coach will begin in 2016.
Figsby hadn’t won a playoff series since his inaugural season as head coach of the Stingers men’s hockey program in 2000.
