Phone Sex Confessions

Cameryn Moore Returns With Unique, Entertaining Smut

“I have always really, really enjoyed the power of making people come,” phone sex operator-cum-performer Cameryn Moore mused on her blog, PhoneWhore. “This pre-dates my involvement in paid phone sex by decades.”

The Portland native has written three shows about her path to, and career as a phone-sex operator. Her inaugural show, Phone Whore, toured the Fringe circuit in 2010 and is coming back to Montreal at the end of the month for a four-day stint at Mainline Theatre.

“Phone Whore came about because I was inspired by the intense psychological aspects of the work, for both me and my callers.” she said. “I really had to think hard, especially at the beginning, about what I believed about the sanctity of our own minds and thoughts.”

There will be a talk-back after each performance where members of the audience will have the chance to speak with Moore about the show, and voice any questions they have.

Moore, who has led workshops on the seductive power of chit-chat, said, “Partly good phone sex is whatever skills and talent you bring to it, but partly it’s the imagination on the other end.”

“[People] take the sound input and the mind games and make it into a hot little scene in their heads.”

While she’s in town, Moore will also be bringing a few other events with her, such as Smut Slam 2: Best Laid Plans (Jan. 25 at Mainline
) – a night where “smut slammers” from the audience sign up to tell stories from their own torrid past. A panel of judges will determine which are the best stories and dole out prizes from Joy Toyz accordingly.

And that’s not all—Moore is also launching her book Bang It Out Jan. 24. It’s a glimpse at how she’s used her talent for more literary purposes. Last year she produced many pieces of “Sidewalk Smut” and the book is a collection of some of her best work.

“Sidewalk Smut is basically custom erotica that I would create, on a typewriter, for passersby in whatever nightclubby street I could find, in whatever town I was in,” Moore said.

“The book is a collection of some archival photographs that I took of those pieces, along with some background about the process and the people that I met along the way.”

She’ll be returning to Montreal this summer as part of a Fringe circuit tour for her latest show, but she’s left quite a few hot reasons to get out of any self-imposed winter lockdown you may suffer from.
