A tough weekend came to a close Sunday afternoon for the Concordia men’s soccer team. After dropping a tough 2-0 defeat to number one nationally ranked UQAM on Friday, Concordia fell to the Université de Montréal Carabins by the same score on Sunday afternoon.

Jan. 27 will forever be a day of mourning for the Concordia Stinger family. It was this day, in 2006, that former women’s soccer player Erica Cadieux was killed after a driver, who fell asleep at the wheel of her SUV, hit her.

Jahlani of All Trades
Standing at six foot one and 205 pounds, Jahlani Gilbert-Knorren could be seen as a jack-of-all trades type of football player. Throughout his football career, from his elementary school days in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, his ventures out in Western Canada, to the present day as a member of the Concordia Stingers, he has spent time as a quarterback, wide receiver, slotback and even as a safety.

The Concordia Stingers football team lost their annual homecoming game to the reigning Canadian Interuniversity Sport champions, the Université de Montreal Carabins on Saturday by a score of 41-29 at Concordia Stadium. Despite an early lead, the Stingers committed crucial mistakes on special teams that cost them the win.

Women’s Soccer: Not Enough
It was another gloomy night for the Concordia Stingers women’s soccer team as they were beaten 2-1 by the Sherbrooke Vert et Or this past Friday night in the annual Erica Cadieux memorial game at Concordia Stadium. The Stingers now have a record of 1-3-1 five games into their season.
