Know Your Candidates
In light of everything that has happened this year, it should be clear to all students that the upcoming CSU elections are hugely important. We need a change in representation and we need to pick the best people for the job; we need to inform ourselves.
While platforms are an important place to start, I am a firm believer that we need to get to know our candidates. Do they truly believe in the things for which they claim to advocate? Will they stand up for what is in our best interests? It is on this note that I would like to voice my support for Laura Glover, running for VP Sustainability and Student Life with the Your Concordia slate.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Laura for the past two years as part of Concordia’s Residence Life. I have also observed her efforts with FASA and her various other involvements at Concordia. Laura is motivated,
competent, and likely the most genuine person I have ever met. She truly cares about people, the environment, and the university. Experience shows me that she is always the first to speak up in meetings, questioning if decisions are the fairest for students or the best use of their time. She is not afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right and she honestly considers the opinions and feelings of others. I have absolute faith she will be a great asset to our student union. To those of you who have not already done so, I encourage you do more than look at posters and videos. Engage our candidates; find out who they really are.
Good luck, Concordia.
