Men’s Hockey: A Much-Needed Victory
It was a must-win game for the Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team. After dropping four straight games including an 8-4 loss to the Western Mustangs this past Friday, the Stingers returned to the win column by beating the Guelph Gryphons 3-2 at the Ed Meagher Arena on Saturday.

It was difficult to watch the utter shock and disappointment on Olivier Hinse’s face. The Stingers men’s hockey captain had given his team a 2-0 lead against the Queen’s Golden Gaels on Saturday evening and Concordia was seemingly on its way to a fourth victory this season.

The old saying “If you love your job, you will never work a day in your life” rings true for Les Lawton. Lawton has been the head coach of the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team since 1980, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Men’s Hockey: Better Effort, Same Result
Following the Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team’s 6-2 preseason defeat at the hands of the UQTR Patriotes last month, which itself followed a 9-3 drubbing a few days earlier, head coach Kevin Figsby noted his team suffered from indiscipline and lack of energy and had made key mistakes in the loss. The Stingers also allowed four power play goals that game.

After being appointed as the new captain of the Concordia Stingers Men’s hockey team following former captain, George Lovatsis’ departure, Hinse was given the task of leading by example and integrating 11 new rookies to the team.
