Pressure Rising
Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart take their grunginess to a higher level with their latest LP Blood Pressures. Despite the group’s rocky relationship and questionable cohesiveness during recording sessions, Hince and Mosshart’s fourth record ends up being their most balanced effort yet.
From opener “Satellite” onwards, Blood Pressures introduces a grimier aspect to The Kills’ musical inventory. “Heart Is a Beating Drum” indeed pounds like a heartbeat, while “The Last Goodbye” brings soft sensibility into the album, showcasing Mosshart’s rock & roll voice in an emotional context.

The smooth, reverberating sounds of “DNA” teases the ears before a complete takeover of the roughest guitar piece on the album, paired with Mosshart’s invigorating and seductive vocals. The album ends with “Pots and Pans,” blending their rock-blues tunes with a slight taste of country.
While the world’s eyes are on Hince and his new girl Kate Moss, there’s no doubt the world’s ears are on the duo’s new sassy record.
