The fourth annual International Record Store Day kicks off today, with independently owned Montreal vinyl shops participating in the 2011 events.

Not only do they promise some rare, limited edition singles from various bands and great deals on all vinyl, but l’Oblique (Marie-Anne & Rivard) will also have live acoustic sessions from various artists every hour starting at 12:00pm.

Acoustic acts Philémon Chante and Pat Jordache will all be taking the stage in the little store, with the latter providing a one day sale of his newest release two weeks in advance.

Phonopolis (Esplanade & Bernard) will be offering 15% off to all of it’s customers today, while also supplying some rare seven and ten-inch records spanning from The Beach Boys to Fucked Up.

Psych-rock band Tune-Yards will also be offering an exclusive listening party for their upcoming album, Whokill, which will be released on April 18th.

Aux 33 Tours (Mont-Royal E & Garnier) is opening early for Record Store Day, also offering some exclusive releases, limited editions and a few brand new titles.

Several artists are releasing music today too, including Radiohead’s new Supercollider/The Butcher single and a collection of b-sides from The Black Angels.
