The Real Superwoman
I want to take this opportunity to express my endorsement for Alexa Newman candidate for CSU Arts and Science Councillor.
Alexa is truly a force to be reckoned with, as she is not easily swayed by what’s popular or easier to do. Alexa has been involved for many years and has been an excellent advocate to students. She was president for the Applied Human Sciences Student Association for two years, and in this capacity represented AHSC students to ASFA councillors. During this time, Alexa assisted several students to secure funds for various academic projects. Furthermore, during her term as president, AHSC student association received awards in most sustainable and financially transparent of all the associations in Arts and Science.
Also, Alexa has since been elected to ASFA VP Finance position. She has supervised a financial review through a certified accountant firm for the previous year’s finances, as well as posted all member association and ASFA expenses on the ASFA website. This shows that Alexa’s stance on financial transparency and sustainability is not just a campaign promise but also something she achieved at the department and faculty level.
Beyond her dedication to Concordia associations, Alexa has volunteered at the Intensive Care Unit at the Montreal General, traveled to Malacca, Malaysia to attend the University Scholars Leadership Symposium, volunteered at a soup kitchen for women shelters and much more. Most notably, in 2009 she rapelled down a 27-story building dressed as Superwoman to help raise money for the Quebec Easter Seals, a foundation to benefit Quebec children with disabilities.
She has so much experience, dedication to getting things done and most of all she possesses the genuine intention to better the life of students that attend our university.
Do yourself a favor and vote for Alexa Newman as Arts and Science councillor for 2010-2011!
