Stingers Go Down in the Mud

Poor Weather a Factor in Road Loss

Concordia’s men’s rugby team couldn’t pull off a victory on the road Sept. 30 as they fell 8-0 to Bishop’s University Gaiters in a sloppy, rain-filled affair.

Bishop’s took an early 3-0 lead, and while the Stingers had their chances to capitalize, they were unable to put any points on the board.

Bishop’s added an unconverted try to end the first half, and neither team was able to score points of any kind during the messy second half.

“It seemed every time we managed to get them under pressure, either a penalty or a mishandled ball allowed Bishop’s to relieve the pressure and put us on the back foot again,” said Stingers head coach Clive Gibson, noting that the team would use the next two weeks to iron out some issues in preparation for the playoffs.

The Stingers return to action Oct. 14 when the Sherbrooke Vert et Or come to town. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
