I heard Concordia Student Union politics were dirty and vindictive but I couldn’t believe that a student’s transcript was released and the CSU President’s response was “oh well”.

If we as students do not have rights, let alone a CSU that defends students rights, what’s the point of being on the streets protesting the Quebec government? Shouldn’t we be first worrying about retaining and protecting our rights?

Apparently the university has launched an investigation and I won’t speculate until the facts are in. But as of now, we have one group, A Better Concordia conducting themselves in a positive manner, focusing only on their platform and not running a glitzy money-soaked campaign that has no substance. Despite all the mud slinging, congrats to A Better Concordia for illustrating that a new culture of cooperation and improving our student union is possible.

We have a stark decision to make next week, either we continue with the same dirty and disappointing politics by electing more of the same, or we vote for a new union, new politics, and support A Better Concordia.
