Cabaret Abnormal: All Kinds of Weird

Sideshow-Style Cabaret Show in Montreal Guarantees You’ll Be Wriggling in your Seat

Cabaret Abnormal will take place today at The Wiggle Room.

Does squirming in your seat as acts of daring and danger take place before your eyes sound appealing to you? Would you enjoy being left to stare as an extraordinary action unravels in front of you?

Viva Diverse Productions will put on their second installment of Cabaret Abnormal, but this time with a few more surprises in store for their audience.

“It’s a burlesque show with a sideshow circus element. The kind of thing that would make people look twice,” explained Mikki Michelle, producer of the show and one of the stars. “Each performer will be stepping out of their box for this show… from acrobatics to walking on glass shards. I myself will be pushing my own boundaries to see what I can do.”

The first installment of Cabaret Abnormal took place at Mademoiselle Urban RestoBar back in May.

“For this second show, we’ve updated the list of performers,” Michelle said. “Something I’m excited about is that we’ll have some very special guests from New York; an acrobatic burlesque duo.”

“I know quite a few performers who are beautiful, sexy, and amazing, but who are also capable of being really different. So I thought, ‘why not make a show out of it?’” – Mikki Michelle, show producer

The theme of the abnormal has been an appeal to Michelle for some time, she explained, having always been a fan of that aesthetic and style of performance. “I really enjoy circus and sideshow,” she said. “I know quite a few performers who are beautiful, sexy, and amazing, but who are also capable of being really different. So I thought, ‘why not make a show out of it?’”

The idea had come to her sometime in March of this year and has taken off since.

Aside from being the producer, Mikki Michelle will also be performing in the show. As to what she will do in show, well, her act is kind of up in the air. Having just graduated from a burlesque school, Michelle said she would like to do a bit of burlesque, as well as some singing.

“I want people to think ‘wow, I haven’t seen something like that before’ when they attend this show,” Michelle declared when asked what kind of reaction she was hoping to elicit from her audience. “Or perhaps to think that it’s been awhile since they’ve seen something like this—I’d really like that.”

So step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and take a look behind the curtain to see what Cabaret Abnormal has to offer. Rolling into town on August 5 at the Wiggle Room bar, be sure to catch this show.
