Can I Vote?
To vote in the Quebec provincial election you must:
  • be a Canadian Citizen
  • be over 18 years old
  • have lived in Quebec for at least six months

Are You Registered?
Unlike federal elections, you need to register before the day you vote. If you are already registered, you will be informed by mail by August 12. If not, you need to register to be eligible to vote.

How to Register
To register, you need:
  • One document with your name & date of birth (birth certificate, health card, passport, driver's licence etc.
  • One document with your name & address (Hydro, internet or cell phone bill, Quebec driver's license)
Between August 22-30, you must register in person, and you will not be eligible for advance polls. To find out where you can register, see the Elections Quebec website here.

Voting Day
You must bring:
  • One piece of identification (Quebec health card, driver's licence, passport)
  • Just to be safe, you might want to bring more than one piece of government-issued ID
Election Day is Tuesday, September 4th. Your employer must give you four consecutive hours off to vote - it's your right.

Other days to vote:
  • August 24, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • August 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • August 28 and 29, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • August 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Advance polls for those with reduced mobility:
  • On August 26-27, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
