The Dalhousie Tigers captured their first-ever Canadian Interuniversity Sport Final 8 victory on March 12, bringing down the Concordia Stingers 76-65 in the consolation semifinal.

Each team had a visible star netting the baskets.

Tiger Simon Farine led the game in scoring and rebounds, with 21 points and 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. He played the most minutes any player in the game.

Farine’s numbers could have been significantly higher if he had made any of the six three-balls he fired.
At the other side of the court, Concordia’s DeCee Krah kept the Stingers in the game, sinking six of the 10 treys he attempted. This season, Krah made 49 of 116 shots from beyond the arc, a 42 per cent average.

Krah had 21 points overall, higher than his season average of 16 points, and three rebounds.

Kyle Desmarais, the 2011 Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec co-MVP, also helped Concordia stay in the game. He racked up 13 points and three boards. Zach Brisebois had 12 points and seven boards.

Dalhousie’s Joseph Schow had 14 points and nine rebounds. During the regular season he was sixth in the country in rebounds, averaging 9.8 per game.

The Tigers will play the Lakehead Thunderwolves in the consolation finals March 13 for fifth place overall.
