Finally, Reggie’s seems primed for reopening.

Having closed in 2013 and after a few broken promises, the student bar and eatery is anticipated to be operational in two weeks time.

The space—located on the Hall building’s Mezzanine level—is awaiting final construction and approval this week, according to Lori Di Maria, Concordia Student Union VP Clubs and Internal Affairs.

The CSU is expecting to have its final inspection of the construction firm’s work done by Nov. 8, and Di Maria said the bar will open a week from then.

The space still needs booths to be mounted, furniture to be delivered, and an audiovisual system to be set up, Di Maria said. She’s excited to hear feedback from the students.

“I think it was something that was really missing in the university,” she said. “It’s going to be somewhere where people can go have a drink and a meal.”

Last month, the CSU hired Melanie Desrosiers as the bar’s general manager. Since then, a bar manager, kitchen manager, and the front end staff have also been hired, Di Maria said.

Reggie’s will be initially operated by CUSACORP, the CSU’s for-profit entity which has been inactive since May 2014. CUSACORP will be dissolved by winter time, and a new not-for-profit entity will take over operations.
