Local Clothing Brand Launches Online Store

As part of the expansion process of their brand, Superfluous’ Adam Taubert and Peter Kajaks are set to launch their new web presence this weekend at Fake Boutique’s sister store, La Buanderie.

You may remember these guys from their feature at Vinyl’s Thursdays Child event last spring. Back then they were just launching the brand, and now, less than a year later, the dynamic duo and their team are proud to announce the release of the Superfluous online store.

The Montreal-based brand has progressed to a stage where virtually all of the creative work is done in-house; everything from silk-screening, to creating and editing designs, to placing orders, right down to bouncing ideas off of one another over morning coffee.

With its co-founders, Adam, Peter and designer Mark Mettler-Warner all living under the same roof, they’re able to keep the creative exchange confined to their home, which is important to these young entrepreneurs.

The brand’s founders have a vision of something that exceeds the existence of a series of cotton t-shirts. Superfluous is only the birth of a trajectory which has far from reached its full potential, a stepping-stone to future business and creative endeavors.

Adam and Peter began the brand with the intention of working with like-minded individuals, immersed in the lifestyle that surrounds them. People like designer Mark Mettler-Warner and PR rep Victoria Watson, whom they not only trust but who also share their vision.

Saturday’s event will focus not only on the launch of the new site but also on the launch of a new line of crew neck sweaters and embroidered tuques. The most recent line of Superfluous tees will also be available. Additional pieces by Mark Mettler-Warner and Peter Kajaks will be featured including works of extremely limited quantity such as a series of hand-painted hats that Peter has designed himself, titled “Portraits of Montreal Jazz.”

Yes the clothing and booze are essential, but nothing makes a release party a party like music. Not only will Montréal’s up-and-coming hip-hop group The Commission be playing live, but so will Fake Boutique’s resident DJ, Walla P. The event will be BYOB. Guests are invited to pop in between 5 and 9pm to share some drinks, check out the new gear and jam to some beats, which will merely kick start the evening. The party doesn’t end at La Buanderie, of course there will also be an after party, though its location has not yet been announced.

The new site will include an online store, videos, photos, news articles and much more. The content has been held back for the launch so readers can expect a blast of great stuff very soon.
