Osheaga Turns Ten

The festival’s 10th anniversary promises a big lineup

The Osheaga Music and Arts Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary at Parc Jean-Drapeau this weekend and its lineup is stacked with a bevy of famous acts.

Starting Friday, ticket-holders’ ears will rock to music that aims at satisfying all tastes. The lineup includes Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine, The Black Keys, George Ezra, Weezer, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Schoolboy Q, FKA Twigs, Nas, Tyler The Creator and many others.

Holding true to its mandate, the festival allows local and emerging talents to play alongside internationally-known headliners.

Canadian acts include household names such as Karim Ouellet, A Tribe Called Red, Ariane Moffatt, Daphni as well as the lesser known The Rural Alberta Advantage, The Franklin Electric, Milk and Bone, and Pierre Kwenders.

Musicians will play on “ six different stages at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The event is sold out.

Like several other popular arts and music festivals, the three-day event also includes interactive and video art. Wayne White, Station 16 Gallery, NFB animators, street artists Hot Tea and WhatisAdam as well as graduates of UQAM’s Design program will lend Parc Jean-Drapeau a weekend makeover.

Produced by entertainment promoters Evenko, Osheaga has become a cultural sensation in North America since 2006. Although the tickets don’t come cheap, performers will play to crowds hailing from all over the continent. Several artists have also been scheduled to perform across various venues in downtown Montreal. This will delight fans who were late to buy a ticket to the big show, those who couldn’t afford it and those who just can’t get enough.
